The analysis of “Publication of Your Personal Profile”

The essay “Publication of Your Personal Profile”, written by Megan Ramirez, is excellent but not strongly persuasive.
This essay present a main claim that users of Facebook and Myspace put their private lives into public and some strangers will have the right to look up them through these social networking website. Additionally, the counterarguments of it also contain that the social networking website will have a negative impact on users if their profiles are scrutinized by some strangers, such as future bosses and professors. Even though some of the profiles are restricted, they are not secure.
This is an excellent essay because Megan Ramirez presents a clear claim and reasonable examples. However, a persuasive essay should be more logical, especially on the claim. The reason why Facebook and Myspace websites are called social networking websites is that those websites are used for keeping in touch with existing friends and meeting new friends, who are called strangers in her essay. Of course people are willing to add strangers to be friends on Facebook and Myspace because the users are here to meet new friends. Moreover, many of the users know that they are responsible for their pictures on their profiles. Even though there will be no future bosses looking up their profiles, many of the users are not that stupid to put many pictures showing themselves that they are involved in some illegal activities.
In general, this is a very good essay. But it is not strongly persuasive because it is lack of logic.
